KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
A. Have more than twenty one years of teaching experience at the University level and another twenty one years of experience of work in a multi disciplinary research institution (Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission)
B. Worked as Director of the Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka, the premier installation of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (1970-1978).
C. Was the Founder Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University which had to be grown from almost nothingness into a Mega University whose enrollment surpassed almost two hundred thousands in various credit courses, thus reflecting the interest of people in Distance and Open Learning in the country. Incidentally a number of non credit courses had also been introduced in order to increase the efficiency of people working in professional areas and also in order to create a scientifically literate society in the country.
D. As Founder Vice-Chancellor of Southeast University and President of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences have championed the cause of Information and Communication Technologies in the country ; have already organized an ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) sponsored ICPC (International Collegiate Programme Contest) regional contest in Southeast University (SEU).
E. Have great interest as a communicator of science in different areas of Science and Technology; already delivered & conducted more than 300 talks on TV and Radio on different aspects of Science and Technology. Also broadcast a series of talks on BBC on Science and Culture. Obtained the TWNSO (Third World Network Scientific Organization) AWARD for the promotion of public understanding of science.
F. Developed a special attitude for teaching science in an integrated manner and suggested at national and international conferences ways & means of creating interest on Science and mathematics education at all levels. Recently wrote a monograph titled "Brain Twister (Delightful mathematics)." ISBN: 984-32-0319-4
G. Have traveled extensively both in the North and in the South & have had interactions with prominent scholars in both these worlds. As a Fellow of several Academies of the world, I have also advocated successfully the cause of Distance Education emphasizing that Distance Education would be a Paradigm Shift in education in the New Millennium.
H. Had developed a good work Culture at every work station and have had amicable relation with Academia and Administration.
