SCHOLARSHIP & TUITION FEE WAIVER POLICY OF SEU

Southeast University awards Scholarship & Tuition Fee Waiver in 9 (nine) categories, such as: (i) Merit based, (ii) Need based, (iii) Freedom Fighters quota, (iv) HSC or O/A Level or equivalent result and Graduate result, (v) Hon’ble BOT Member’s quota, (vi) Corporate category, (vii) Spouse & Siblings category, (viii) SEU Employees category & (ix) Players/Artist/Others category.

General Guidelines

  1. A student will not be simultaneously entitled to avail himself of waiver benefits of more than one type.

  2. Students availing tuition waiver must register for classes in the first three semesters from the date of their admission at SEU. Their tuition waiver will remain valid during the first three semesters and will be reviewed in the fourth semester based on their CGPA as per SEU Tuition Waiver Rules.

  3. All waiver benefits will be granted on the basis of application from the students. The students will apply for waiver facilities/ financial aid within two weeks after commencement of class. However, Students deserving waivers based on the merit and result of SSC & HSC need not apply to the authority. The University will calculate their waiver and inform them at the beginning of the Semester.

  4. The students will be required to pay all the fees at the time of admission as per the policy of the University. After final approval and circulation of the “Waiver List” the amount equivalent to the remission of the waiver shall be adjusted against the dues of the waiver recipients from the next semester.

  5. All the categories of waiver rules for undergraduate students are subject to the condition that in their previous examination (SSC & HSC) there was no break of study.

  6. Under-graduate students having a break of study of more than 02 (two) years after passing HSC or A’ Level exam will not be eligible for tuition waiver.

  1. Tuition waiver will be granted only on the basis of offered courses. In general, if a student drops any course(s) and the total credits enrolled in a semester falls below the minimum requirement, s/he will lose tuition waiver for the semester. However, if any student is allowed semester drop for a valid reason, he may be allowed tuition waiver on the basis of his GPA earned in the semester before the drop semester.

  1. All types of waiver will be applicable for the eligible full-time students. For Under-graduate and Graduate students, minimum credit load required in a semester would be 12 and 09 respectively to be considered as a full time student. Non-credit course taken in the first semester will be considered for calculating minimum credit load for undergraduate students.

  1. Tuition waiver will be granted only on original tuition fees. No waiver will be allowed in case of Re-take Fees, Admission Fees, Student Activity Fees and other charges. Those under the Freedom Fighter’s quota will enjoy waiver of all kinds of fees except the admission fees.

  1. The continuation of the waiver benefits will depend on (a) maintaining the minimum CGPA specifically mentioned in the table of each category as follows and (b) compliance with the University’s rules and regulations and Code of Conduct for students.

Required CGPA to maintain waiver

  • But it is observed that number of students applying for availing this Quota is much more than 3% specified in the Privet University Act 2010. Many FF’s sons and daughters are deprived of the Waiver even after maintaining a good GPA in various Semesters. In view of this, it is recommended that keeping 3% Quota fixed for the FF, from among the applicants those will be able to maintain minimum GPA of 2.50 will continue getting this Waiver. If any student fails to maintain GPA 2.50, the student(s) from the waiting list will be given waiver in that Semester. This will work as an incentive to all sons/daughters of the FF at the same time we will conform to the general policy of providing 3% waivers to the sons/daughters of Freedom Fighters.
