Southeast University library is a progressive, dynamic and resourceful that will support the curricula and research needs of the university. Perhaps the most important resource for students and faculty at SEU will be the SEU library. The library officers and staff are committed to helping patrons using the library effectively and efficiently.
Southeast University library came into existence just with inception of the university itself. The University Library, which was started in a single room of A.R. Tower, moved to 3rd floor of the building no.2 in the year 2004. The present Library space is only 3000 Sft. For expansion of library services new spaces will be allocated very soon. The Library is situated at the centre of the University Main Campus Building. Library facilities are open to all students, teachers, Officers, staff and other persons associated with this university. The library have a seating capacity of 150 students. The Library is equipped with a variety of books on the academic programs offered as well as on research and extra-curricular activities on different topics and events. At present the total collection of books and journals at library is about 10891. It will have a separate reference and journals section, which will be one of the most up-to-date library in the country.
The library resources cover many discipline, such as business, law, management, computer science, information and communication, engineering, economics, environmental studies, English language and literature, Islamic studies, pharmacy, textile engineering, information technology, psychology, religion, sociology, mathematics, statistics, Engineering, history, culture, Architecture, etc. The total number of books is 10,793 and increasing day by day. The SEU library subscribes substantial number of daily newspapers, magazines, fortnightly, and research journals. Different titles of news-clippings on current subjects relating to the curricula as well as socio-economic aspects, national and international affairs will also be readily available for keeping the readers up-date.
The students get internet facilities in Computer Lab. SEU Library has already undertaken a plan to introduce internet browsing facilities. The Library is establishing its own database with a customized software made by a student of this university. CD-Rom search services will also be introduced with the available CD-ROMs on programs related subjects. We have made linkages with ACU (Association of Commonwealth Universities), AGORA, HINARI, OARI. The Library is equipped with 3 computers which are connected with LAN within SEU Buildings.
To help in the use of all those resources, library officers and staff are available from 8:00 am. to 8:00 pm. At the SEU library, one can find a variety of print and non-print forms, such as books, journals, magazines and also a modern customized database. Users may find research materials, slides and A/V cassettes, search a number of CD-ROM database and free access to Internet.
The SEU library render regular services such as circulation, reference, counseling, indexing, bibliographical documentation, back up services, retrospective searches etc.
The Library has special feature, that is to say, it has a modern automation system to run its day to day activities. It has also a distance corner which contains sizeable amount of books, journals, reprints, documents and booklets.
Books of the library are catalogued and classified according to Anglo American Cataloguing Rules and Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. All the books and journals are shelved according to call number and titles alphabetically respectively. Another important feature of the library is that it issues latest arrivals (Aceessions list of books-monthly) and Current Awareness Service (CAS: Contents of periodicals), etc to the faculty members. Besides, there is a Library Committee to formulate policies and increase the modern facilities for the library users.
Southeast University is linked with the following world renowned journal publishers through an international
organisation named INASP/PERI (www.inasp.info/peri/index.shtml). Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) is
acting as the coordinating body in Bangladesh . It is expected that most of the journal articles can be downloaded
without username and password. This facility is IP based and work only from SEU computers. We are availing free online access to the following journal articles with full text OARE (Online Access to research in the Environment) databases of FAO.

Library services for Students/Faculties: About five hundred students come regularly to the library to study.
Library Hours: Saturday to Thursday : 8.00 a.m. -8.00 p.m.Friday : 9.00 p.m.- 5.00 p.m. (1 hour break for Jumma Prayer and Lunch)
